Queen’s Park

Queen’s Park

To one end of Brondesbury Road, there is Queens park which borders Maida Vale, Ladbroke Grove and Kensal Rise to the West and West Hampsted to the North. Queen’s Park has firmly cemented itself as one of North West London’s most fashionable areas. To the other end of Brondesbury Road, there is Kilburn High Road. Kilburn is an area of north-west London, which is divided between three London Boroughs: most of Kilburn is in either Brent or Camden but a small section is inside Westminster.

Brondesbury Road has excellent transport links for tubes, trains and buses. Queen’s Park and Kilburn Park (zone 2) served by the Bakerloo line which takes approx. 20 mins to central London with Kilburn High Road on the Jubilee line (zone 2). Brondesbury Park and Brondesbury are on the Overground, and Kilburn High Road, also on the Overground, have trains to Euston. There are also numerous buses from Kilburn High Road which serve central London and the City.

Queen’s Park appeals to young professionals and families alike. It’s hip and happening, with an eclectic mix of independent shops and a great selection of cafes, pubs, bars, and restaurants. Queen’s Park open space offers six tennis courts, a pitch and putt course, children’s café and playground. It also hosts the annual ‘Queen’s Park day’ – a village-style fête complete with a dog show and home-made produce. It also showcases local bands and singers, and a book festival brings together writing groups and local authors. Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market on Sunday mornings draws people from across northwest London to stock up on local produce.

Kilburn High Road is the main high road which boasts numerous high street shops, cafes, and restaurants. To the north of the High Road is the Tricycle Theatre which includes a gallery, cinema as well as the theatre. Reflecting the culturally diverse local community, the Tricycle theatre presents many international pieces and films, often in original language with English subtitles, and hosts or runs social and educational programs. There is also a park in Kilburn called ‘Grange Park’ which is of a good size; it holds tennis courts, a children’s play area, a netball court, and a large grassy area to sunbathe on, and every July sees the Kilburn Festival.
